The Sony Ericsson PC Suite connects your phone to your computer so that you can synchronize and manage your personal data such as calendar and contact information, and you can connect your computer to the Internet via the phone.

The Sony Ericsson PC Suite has an upgraded synchronization database compared to the P800 and the P900 PC Suite. If you have a P800 or P900 series phone and want to upgrade the PC Suite you shall follow the step-by-step instructions below for a seamless upgrade.

An upgrade to 3.1.1 from an earlier PC Suite than will cause a so called Full synchronization. This may cause duplicates of Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, Jotter and Email at the first synchronization after the installation. Please note that an upgrade from 3.0.0 will keep its settings (i.e. no â€œfull synchronizationâ€ is initiated).

To avoid duplicates the following steps should be followed:

1. Synchronize your P800/P900 with your current version of PC Suite just before upgrading to 3.1.1 PC Suite.

2. Remember what settings you have in Sync Station Settings for Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, Notes and email (the new PC Suite requires new user settings to be made).

3. Install the new Sony Ericsson PC Suite version 3.1.1.

4. Make a backup of your phone (Memory Stick not necessary to backup).

5. This step is ONLY needed if you are using email synchronization - Go to your Mobile phone in Control Panel / Connections / Messaging accounts and look for email accounts starting with PC ... and delete those. If you are synchronizing the phone with several computers make sure you delete the right account, the text after PC indicates which computer the account belongs to.

6. Enter into Sync Station Settings on the PC and make the settings you want to have.

7. Enter into the 3rd tab called Full synchronization and select the Force full synchronization. Also select Keep all items in computer and override items in phone.

8. Exit by pressing OK.

9. Synchronise the phone.

10. If you dont want to keep the setting Keep all items in computer and override items in phone permanently, go to Sync Station Settings and change this setting and press OK.

11. Check that you have the right content in your applications in your phone.
